One of my hobbies is walking battlefields and that will probably be the major source of posts. Plus I will post about other things that spark my interest, from oddities found while researching to observations on the war.

Smith's Hill
If you continue down the road from the New York monument next to the interstate you come up on this view. You are on Smith's Hill. There are two hills in this vicinity that the Confederates made their line on, Smith's and Tyndale's Hills. Each hill now has the name of the Union general whose troops took the hill. Lookout Mountain can be seen in the first photo, we're looking roughly east, south-east. The third and fourth photos show Tyndale Hill to the south, I got a fellow visitor in the photo who I don't even know. I took this pictures as part of a ranger guided tour and at the time this area was not open to all visitors, so if you're going there you should probably check at a visitor's center before you go wandering around this area.
